Most people who try to tear out a deck themselves get through the boards just fine. The trouble starts at the frame, the ledger board bolted into the side of the house, and the posts set down in concrete. Then there is the pile, which is more lumber than a pickup will take in three trips, full of nails, and not something the city will collect from the curb. We handle all of it in one visit, dump runs included, and the wood that can be recycled gets separated out instead of going straight to the landfill.

What sets your price is the size of the deck, how it was built, and how much lumber comes out of it, since we charge by the volume it fills in the truck. A ground level platform of pressure treated boards is a different job from a raised deck with concrete footings, a railing system, and a flight of stairs. We come out, look at what is actually there, and give you one number covering the teardown, the hauling, and the dump fees. If we open it up and find something nobody expected, we stop and tell you before we keep going, not after.
